Man United hit by devastating cyber attack

A cyber-attack has thrown Manchester United's scouting operations into chaos.

As of now, it is unclear what if any data has been compromised during the attack. The club claims that no personal data relating to staff or customers was leaked but it is now worried that confidential material relating to target players and ongoing scouting missions may have been exposed. There are currently cyber forensic investigations to expose exactly what data has been compromised and hopefully where the attack came from. It has been widely reported that the hackers tried demanding millions in ransom to prevent information from being leaked online, the club has not announced if they paid this ransom to retrieve their services.

Weather data has been compromised or not it is clear that the attack has had a massive impact on the system operations. Over a week after the initial breach and clubs' entire Email and other systems are still disabled, with the January transfer window around the corner, it is vital the club gets these systems back online.

Many security experts including the NCSC praised United for responding swiftly to the breach but say its evidence of a worrying trend for big clubs around the UK.
